If you are not already aware due to media censorship, restricted or limited access to the internet, in the Congo there is unregulated mining of not only Cobalt, that powers our phones and technology but cassiterite (tin ore), gold, wolframite (a source of tungsten) and other minerals that create a profit for markets in Europe, Asia, & North America. The mining also profits the most violently armed groups in Congo who extort, rape, and dehumanize Congolese victims. As with most black issues…there is very little main stream media coverage on this genocide. News of a Congolese man setting himself on fire to bring media attention to Congo genocide has gone viral on social media.
